What's more, any game, which specializes on tactical gameplay will wipe the floor with AW. Tactical battles would be ok-ish if player could position his units before the battle. In addition, there isn't many options to develop your cities not as barracks. In both cases millitary units is all that you need to produce. You have Civ-like map experience, but it's shallow since you either rush your enemies at the beggining or you will be swamped by endless hordes of Shadow Stalkers. The problem is that AW doesn't excel at anything.
I would say that this game is a mixture of King's Bounty and Civilization series with AI from Shogun 2. I have mixed feelings regarding this game (played only in solo).Īge of Wonders III (AW) provides unique gaming experience.
